Love You TWO the Moon


























 Carter boy! You are TWO. I must say you are the cutest two year old. We celebrated you complete with a Love you Two the Moon theme, homemade vanilla cupcakes, a disco ball (moon) piñata and lots of fun presents. You felt loved and important and that’s what we were hoping for. 

You are so incredibly close to walking, I’m hoping you’ll have it figured out by the end of the year. Fingers crossed. You’re still just a little nervous, but strong and steady. You’ve got this. A big part of me wants you to walk, you’re getting heavy to carry around everywhere, but also I know that walking will bring a new found freedom, which could be good and bad. I’m just hoping you’re not a runner and get into trouble… I know it will come though and we’ll hopefully be ready for it. 

You are talking and understanding so much lately. The other day I could have sworn you said love you. It melted my heart. Your favorite word is still bath, you say it loud and clear. You LOVE water. I’m pretty sure you’ll be an Olympian swimmer one day. It’s so crazy to think of all the amazing things you’ll do in your life and how much you’ll bless and teach all of us. You’re just getting started! 

With being two came a little more sass, opinions, and unfortunately teething. Some days are harder than others, but still, most of the time, you are a very pleasant person to be around. 

You’re still everyone’s favorite and bring a lot of joy and smiles to those around you. We’re blessed to have you, Carter. We love you!

 Your nickname is Carter Boy. It’s cute and it stuck. Life with you is an adventure, we never know what’s coming up, but we sure enjoy all of it.  When you were born we had no idea how healthy you would be or what the future would hold. It’s been 18 months now and let’s just say life with you has been so wondeful.  You are so healthy, especially for a boy with Down syndrome, of course you get sick a lot, but you fight it off like a champion and haven’t been in any scary situations. We’re hoping you just get healthier and healthier. Even when you’re sick you are so enjoyable and happy. Unfortunately you were sick during Christmas but still gave us the best smiles.  You are learning and growing so much. You can crawl, but still choose to pull yourself to get around. It’s really cute and making you very strong. You can pull yourself up onto couches now and are spending more time on your knees and exploring. You’ll stand up if we’re holding onto which is really cute....

Welcome Home Carter!

 I decided to let go of my expectations of when you’d be home. We were waiting on you to be off oxygen and eat really good on your own. You had a feeding tube as well as oxygen. Your dad and I would come and see you twice a day to feed you and give you lots of love. You became quite the celebrity in the nicu. Everyone knew and loved you. I’ll never forget the sweet nurses, specifically Jen Murphy ( the peds doctor on call when you were born) Angela and Amber. They’ll always hold a special place in our hearts. They’re family. I remember Amber encouraging me to go to Idaho for our family reunion. Reminding me that I’ve got other kids to love and take care of and that you’d be absolutely fine while we were gone. I’m so glad I listened to her advice. We had a great time in Idaho and it helped to stock up on breast milk while we were there.  Your dad dropped me off at the hospital to see you on our way home.
