6 months













































 Hi Carter Boy! 

Carter Boy has been your nickname for a while now. 6 whole months with you. It’s crazy how time heals. It was you all along. You are the perfect person for our family. I’ve already changed and grown so much because of you. I have so much more empathy, I see others, less judgmental, and definitely feel closer to God. You make me want to be a better person. I want to be pure and good like you always will be. You bring so much joy to everyone around you. I always joke that you’re my emotional support baby. Whenever I’m feeling down, I hold you close and everything feels so much better. I know that God sent you to us for so many reasons. Reasons we are seeing now and so many more that we’ll discover. 

I’ve had all pretty easy babies, but you have taken the cake. Sheesh! You are SO happy. So content. No crying, just cute little noises when you need something. You love to be held, but you’re also completely fine on your own as well. You sleep through the night, 7-6, well sometimes, you usually wake up at 5:30ish, but you’re the cutest little alarm clock. 

Can we talk about your smile?! It is PURE joy, PURE goodness, PURE happiness. When you smile your whole face smiles. It takes over your entire face and you squish your body up real tight and just smile with everything you’ve got. Your smile could honestly stop wars, lessen contention and bring joy to anyone who saw it. 

You’re still growing incredibly well. In fact your pediatrician said you have the best stats he’s ever seen a downs baby have! Way to go Carter! You have lots of checkups, but mostly just preventative. Did I mention how easy you are? 


We’ve started you on solid foods and you love them! When we fed you for the first time it was the sweetest thing. You were so happy! So grateful! 

We just love you so so much!

18 months

 Your nickname is Carter Boy. It’s cute and it stuck. Life with you is an adventure, we never know what’s coming up, but we sure enjoy all of it.  When you were born we had no idea how healthy you would be or what the future would hold. It’s been 18 months now and let’s just say life with you has been so wondeful.  You are so healthy, especially for a boy with Down syndrome, of course you get sick a lot, but you fight it off like a champion and haven’t been in any scary situations. We’re hoping you just get healthier and healthier. Even when you’re sick you are so enjoyable and happy. Unfortunately you were sick during Christmas but still gave us the best smiles.  You are learning and growing so much. You can crawl, but still choose to pull yourself to get around. It’s really cute and making you very strong. You can pull yourself up onto couches now and are spending more time on your knees and exploring. You’ll stand up if we’re holding onto which is really cute....

Welcome Home Carter!

 I decided to let go of my expectations of when you’d be home. We were waiting on you to be off oxygen and eat really good on your own. You had a feeding tube as well as oxygen. Your dad and I would come and see you twice a day to feed you and give you lots of love. You became quite the celebrity in the nicu. Everyone knew and loved you. I’ll never forget the sweet nurses, specifically Jen Murphy ( the peds doctor on call when you were born) Angela and Amber. They’ll always hold a special place in our hearts. They’re family. I remember Amber encouraging me to go to Idaho for our family reunion. Reminding me that I’ve got other kids to love and take care of and that you’d be absolutely fine while we were gone. I’m so glad I listened to her advice. We had a great time in Idaho and it helped to stock up on breast milk while we were there.  Your dad dropped me off at the hospital to see you on our way home.
